I'll throw this out there...its a drifting practice on 5 Aug with classes on 4 Aug. I believe the cost is $50. The organizer, Aaron, is a pretty cool guy. Definitely a different crowd than your typical HPDE but cool people nonetheless (genrally younger).
I've done one practice last April. I learned a lot about car control in a short amount of time without tearing up bumpers, splash shields, and my pride by going off into the wilderness. You do learn about oversteer but you also learn how to kill understeer. For me, it has been a real confidence builder.
I've never been to Mineral Wells but the practice in Ennis, TX was a course lined with cones...you line up, go, line up, go, tires go boom, replace, line up, and go. Pretty simple.

I plan on going for AT LEAST the class. Depending on my car or if I can arrange for a trailer...then I'll do the driving part as well.
