If its like my E46, there's a plastic rivet in the middle. Pop that out and the pad comes out.

Not sure I ever understood the aluminum pad adaptors. I've never had to replace any of the pads on either of my BMWs and I jack my car up a lot. I use a piece of plywood or a hockey puck on the jack.
