Another good tire that has not gotten a lot of hype is the Continental Sport Contact 5P. Those are very well regarded in Europe. Here in the US we do not get many sizes of that model so they never made a big splash in the marketplace.
Disagree on the Bridgestones, at least for street use. They are a very heavy tire and you will feel it. A few years back, I made the switch on my 350Z from Bridgestone to Michelin. Dropped a total of 24 lbs of tire weight, and it felt like a whole new car in terms of responsiveness and suppleness.

Why are Bridgestones so damn heavy, anyway?
