Well, there is an issue to think about here.

It's a well documented fact that the car records the fastest speed achieved. If you exceed the factory limit, then it's quite obvious that you have tampered with the cars electronic control units (specifically the coded limit in the DME unit, at least).

The question is, can they void warranty on the basis of this alone? Sounds unlikely, but I think it would be possible to deny coverage in certain situations.
