Four floors seem like a lot to maintain, no matter what the st/footage. I'd imagine you dont venture to most of the house. If you have the means for a rental property i think it's a great idea. I'm going to try for a rental property before the market comes back and I can't afford it. Why not have someone else pay your mortage.

It's not much from the outside, but it does the trick and meets my only real requirement (minimum 2 car garage). To be honest, my wife and I have been talking about using it as a rental and moving in to something a bit smaller (total ft.sq. is about 3200 over four floors) with more usable square footage.
