^ don't get me wrong, I personally love e90's and almost leased an e90 M3 at Christmas, but your reply reminded me of something this kinda nerdy guy said to me the other night when talking about my car...
"The e90's look like they took an e46 and let it melt into a chunky blob." I can kinda see what he's talking about as the e90's do have a "heaviness" about them. There are just so many interesting body lines on the e46 which didn't get carried to the e90. They did kinda get "melted" away.
Maybe a lightly used N54 put into an e46 would be another option in this price range. I think I've decided to hang on to mine forever, let it become my "beater" when I can more comfortably afford an e90 M3. Once the e46 is paid off though, it will receive some nice upgrades, nothing to crazy as I don't want to rattle my teeth out of my skull with a daily driver...
