I used to use my M3 as a commuter. That is one of the most comfortable cars on the road today. Also, mine is a 6MT and I used to drive in heavy traffic with it. No bothers for me. Only thing is the fuel consumption. My commute is 70 miles round trip to work and home. I am only averaging 15.3 mpg and trying to get it higher.
With no rain now, I take my CBR 1000RR almost everywhere since I get 40mpg for it, can drive in the carpool lane, and can lane split. The M can't do that, but is waiting for me in the garage when I get home. =)
