Yes, I was contemplating it the other day. I may spring for the 500mm, if things pick up financially between now and year-end. I paid $6100 for my Series I about 16-months ago and I could sell it for that today, so I'm looking at the difference and considering that they hold their value well.
OTOH, I was Jonesing to move up to the new, lighter 600mm, but the new price there swatted my ambition into the weeds. If I get the Series II 500mm, I'll also get both Series III TCs (faster AF than the S-II) and consider springing for a used 1D MkIV to take advantage of all the new speed.
