The lower the steering ratio, the agiler the steering; but a low steering ratio also makes the car a bit nervous. That's great for a sports car like the M3, but If you're driving a comfort orientated car, you also expect the steering to be less nervous/immediate- So a higher steering ratio makes sense. Some don't like it to get a response from every bit the steering wheel is turned...
