I'd say find another dealer. My $1000 deposit is refundable until production starts, and is all that is required. There are many dealers out there who take deposits that are entirely refundable. I haven't heard of anyone paying a deposit higher than $2k on this forum for the M3. Some have not put down a deposit at all and still were able to order.
