My diff makes more noise when cold during initial driving. I wouldn't say it's a crunch and thud noise though. Best to make sure all your wheel bolts are in just to be safe ; ) Sometimes the dust shields for the brakes become deformed and cause rattles or catch and pop. Just bend them back into place.
