I noticed that also. It seems to be about $45 for 5 reports.
It makes sense to go ahead a purchase an account to have access to more than this one report. If the CarFax report causes you not to purchase the car, you are then back asking (begging) for someone to run another report on the next car, out of their low number of available reports.
CarFax is helpfull to determine what cars not to purchase, but not necessarly what cars to purchase.
