This general sentiment that Nissan could potentially walk away from warranty repairs on parts that could cost between 10-20k, was due to Nissan's initial reaction to the launch control issue, and voiding warranties on a handful of cars.
But as one of the resident GT-R lovers stated, comparitively (performance competitor's) it's not that bad.

$2K for just 2 tires,$7K for a brake job and a possible $20K transmission is one hell of a price to pay if something goes wrong. Otherwise the car is amazing.
