However, having looked at that wikipedia page of archaic and offensive terms, do you refrain from saying "idiot" or "moron" as well? They also previously were common terms used to identify the mentally challenged, but slowly and informally made their way into everyday vernacular. Are these just politically correct ways to jokingly call someone stupid, or is it actually the same as calling someone "retarded?"
