Two different machines, in my opinion. The Cayman S is geared towards the track with it's mid-engine layout and stiff(er) suspension and better brakes ,while the M3 is geared towards backroads and highway cruising. The M3 can be taken to the track, but you'll have to change a couple of things such as the brakes so you don't get fade.
