Hey gang, I was doing some realistic thinking today when it hit me,the E92 M3 is going to be rediculously hyped up before its debut, and raved about when it comes out. And that means that BMW/M haters, sports car guys, luxury brand guys, and plain old street folks are going to want one. The battle for the top performance car is going around once again, rivaling the HP wars in the 60's & 70's. And hopefully the new M3 will be beyond our wildest dreams, and once again be the car to have.
What all that crap spells to us future buyers is...MARK UPS!!! I am guesstimating that when the E92 M3 launches here in the states, the buzz surrounding it will generate a massive demand for the car. All the cars will be sold out for the first few months to the buyers like some of you, with deposits, etc... And then when those are done with being sold, the magazines and tv shows will have been around showing how phenomenal the car is and yadda, yadda, yadda. Which in turn will produce the second huge wave of banwaggoners, stunners, etc..that will want this amazing car.
And by this point you can be sure that the little old E92 M3, which was introduced at, and will be listed on the bmwusa website at $58,000US for base, will be selling for a little over $65,000US at dealers. Now, when you mosey* on into your local dealer with your mind set on buying one, they only have 2 there, in a terrible color! And in 6spd! and its marked up , and not going to budge from that rediculous mark up.
Fortunately for you its only another 2 months before the 2009 models roll in!!!!!!!!!! Not because you get to have an '09 as opposed to an '08, but because all the ugly ones have been leased off to fat corporate stunners, the buzz has died down, and you have had a chance to see what the car is all about, including a couple of test drives, hit up the forums to get some personal feedback, and read the R&T and C&D reviews and have seen that its all its hyped up to be...and that its worth your investment. And thankfully by the time you have consulted this purchase with your mates and the wife, the first '09 in you color and options is at your local dealer waiting for you, for $600 over MSRP.
Ha! You may not have had one of the first few M3's on the street, but you didn't settle on a color you didn't want and aren't going to take such a bad deappreciation* when trade in time comes around. In fact, you saved yourself $5KUS on just a little bit of a wait.
And for those of us that are going to be breaking the bank to get this M3, especially us SoCaler's that haven't signed a contract @ MSRP for whatever reason, this theory is especially helpful. But, if you have your car waiting with a deposit, then rock on brother!
P.S. Sorry for the shitload of typo's, I was in a hurry. (lol, who am I kidding, I just can't spell)
Bottomline here is that maybe it will be a good idea to wait for the buzz to die down. Before buying the car.
