It IS a real 200-400 f/4, which would set you back $7000 if you could find and buy a Nikon version. This one is also a 280-560 f/5.6. Given that it's a Canon super tele zoom and the yen has slammed the dollar for the last couple of years and there are supply shortages due to the earthquake and its aftermath, 10-grand wouldn't be really surprising.
