I have a gs, and an idiot (jack Russell). Mine are not in crates, but they are in their designated places for about 13 hours per day.
They are playing outside for about 4 hours per day in the woods walking, but in the house i have a strict policy of no contact with them. As much as we can, we humans ignore them in the house. Try making more of your time outside time.
