My long standing view in this is that everyone who crates their pets should be burned. I still stand by that with all other animals than dogs.
Dogs in some weird way enjoy having their own space that way, and 98% of dogs are not dominant enough to make it on their own in big spaces when they're young. They clearly enjoy crates and its us people who see it as wrong too easily.
None of my dogs have been in one if not for flying but the idea is the same as with me giving them all their own spots in the house where they're always left in peace.
