Well it's not better performing either.
Most reviews seem to reveal they go head to head on smaller courses (6mt vs 6mt) and the M3 is still faster on tracks where it can stretch its legs. But with a measly $800 you can grab a good 80hp/torque with a simple software tune. I'm sure that will push the 1M coupe ahead in most cases.
I don't think M3 sales will suffer much if at all.
