I learned how to drive manual on my M3 and haven't found it bad in LA traffic. On occasion, you encounter traffic where you literally have to stop every few feet, in which case the 6MT can be annoying. But I haven't really found it to be a problem in general. Of course, my commute is through Laurel Canyon and over a stretch of Mullholland Drive, so the 6MT is a lot of fun there.
