Yes, they are identical. Also, I have had the Vaico units in my car for at least 10k miles, with a few track days thrown-in, and I have had no issues with them.

I read post #24 in the link you provided. It is difficult for me to see how the filter is making the DCT clunk as the author stated. The author also mentioned this happened to his "buddy's" car; hard to say.
