Frank- You would not lose your cats. If you look under your car, you can see your exhaust 'box' with two curved-shaped pipes. These are the 'connecting pipes'

In order to install the Remus without the connecting pipes, you would have to hack off your stock 'box' if you understand what i mean.

Let me know if you need any clarifications since I'm being kinda vague
