you're not missing anything. I used Cars.com and found my M3. You just have to counter offer. No seller is going to post these deals as their asking price, you have to ask for it.
For me, dealer was asking for $54k in the ad, I saw on this message board the comparable car should sell with no drama around $45-$48k cash, I offered $46k, they took it.
Don't just "keep an eye out", b/c you'll never see these prices offered. Just start offering what you want to pay. Someone will bite, b/c these are all reasonable prices where dealer will still make money.
