Not sure. The E30 M3 was the first M3, which is partly why it is so desirable. The 1M came in really limited numbers, but a lot of people don't recognize it as a real M car.
I think there is a decent chance that the value of the 1M will increase (especially the models with no options) in, say, 20 years or so. I don't think it will ever reach the status of the E30 M3, though.
