Keep in mind that while the new S65 V8 is ligher than the S54 I6 in the E46 M3, it is indeed heavier than the N54 I6 in the E92 335i. It seems the carbon fiber roof and lighter suspension components really have helped then.
The German website lists the 335i Coupe at 1600kg using EU standards (footnoted), which includes 90% fuel load, 68 kg driver and 7kg baggage. If you subtract these you end up with about 1485kg or 3,273lb, which is ridiculously low and nowhere near the BMWUSA spec of 3,571lb "unladen". It appears this EU weight for the 335 is incorrect, and should be more like [1620kg (3,571lb) + 40 (fuel) + 68 (driver) + 7 (luggage)] =1715kg.
