My M3 V8 in Jerez Black was awful with orange peel.. truly apaulling. I had a detailer wet sand it. Took a week or so and he only did major panels but did improve the situation dramatically. To the extent the guy buying the car off me a few years later told me he had never seen an M3 with such a paint finish... of course he had not.
It did cost me a fortune though and not sure I would bother again on a BMW..
My 991 GT3 Paint to Sample in that respect was MILES better and no orange peel to be seen. A world of difference.
Ferrari are known to suffer from this issue and in the UK they get detailed by the importer before delivery to remove some of the peel effect. As UK distributor knows ppl would reject the car.
