I bought the tire/wheel insurance. I am in the process of cancellation and getting a pro-rated refund. Cost me $1500 for 5 years and its the BMW tire/wheel protection.
I hit a pothole, scraped up my tire and wheel. The wheel doesn't appear to be bent or damaged (no steering wheel shake, etc). BMW SA thinks is repairable, doesn't need to be replaced. The tire/wheel insurance claims denied my claim because they said its cosmetic only, though I can't find anywhere on the exclusions list in the contract that says cosmetic only damages not covered.
If I repair it through BMW, $120, though a 3rd party $50. So I am just going get my $1100 or so back (unfortunately it goes back to BMW FS since I financed the vehicle). The amount of times I have to get a flat, or bust my wheel entirely is so minimal, I'll just insure myself. Tire/wheel is a waste, and I don't feel like bitching at claims to have them honor it. I'd rather have my money back and they have nothing.
