I guess it depends on how busy your apple store is. I have access to a store where I'll be willing to bet I'll get a 4.2.1 phone. It's always empty. Plus I always ask for the older stock.
Really strange issues everyone has with shutter and alarm clocks...both iPhone 4's I've owned have been JB on 4.0.1 and 4.1 and have never had any issues.
+the few dozen phones I've restored and JB on 4.2.1, haven't seen (or heard about) any issues. Then again, I don't really check anything once I JB a phone.
