Once you have the black piece on the top right corner out, just remove the 2 terminals from the white connector and pull the white LED board out; that's all you need from the stock knob, so you can destroy the black piece if the wires give you a hard time

And of course mark which wire goes where on the connector, because after fishing the wires thru the modified ZHP knob, you'll have to reinsert them back in the correct position... but push the little tabs out first so they lock firmly in place. Needless to say, you'll need a very small jeweler's (flat) screwdriver for the connector job. Good luck.
PS: If somebody already removed the wires without marking them, just insert the empty connector into the female one on the car and mark them there
