Regardless of the amount of anti-seize placed on the spacer, they would seize on the car. The other thing is that the lip would deform and would be a PITA to remove.

Also the smoothened angled edge would be very hard to pry off when I needed to remove the spacer.

All in all, I prefer the H&R by far. Maybe the new rogue ones are better. From their track record on so-so quality parts, I would stay clear from all their products - except their SSk - but thats an OEM BMW piece thats modified.
I'm no RE fanboy, but I don't know how they could be any better than these. Sorry for your bad experience. I know they have refined the design more than once. These seem to fit perfectly--not too tight or loose, and the square kerf along the back edge should make prying off easy if necessary. Just MO.
