I would say that 5k is where the fun really begins.

Different cars need different driving styles. An F1 car would be very slow at low rpms and comparing it to a 335d between 1k - 3krpm, one may find that the F1 is slower but that's hardly the point. The F1 is a lot faster when driver as it was designed to be used, i.e. at high rpms
