Later, when I got to Val d'Or, I found that the i-drive was warning me about the outside temperature (-3 to -7) every time I started the car up. I have been through the manual from front to back and can find no mention of these warnings or the icon The snowflake symbol only appears to indicate the a/c button.

Were they just telling me that it was cold out and icing may be a problem? Powassen would have been about where the temp went below freezing on the way up.
Just means it's cold and you might get some ice.
