I never said I found the Elise overly stiff. I like stiff cars, I'm used to driving them. I don't really need cushy rides (yet) - maybe when I get older.
I just found Elise stiffer than M3 or S2000. You may be right, possibly it was the rattling that confused me. I didn't really have much chance to drive it much (it wasn't mine) and Michigan roads suck - so that could be it.
I have extensive experience with the S2k though and suspension in that car was much stiffer then the M3 or the CaymanS
