I agree, it's not normal.

Like you, my fan was running on max for well over 5 minutes--more like 10--but I wasn't going to wait it out until I had a dead battery. Sure, modern cars will run the fan for a little while if the engine is hot--but 10 minutes on "max" isn't normal--at least in my book.

What's also weird is that on days I've pushed the car hard, and it's been just as hot, I've come home and parked and no the fan shuts off when the engine shuts off....In that case I'd expect the fan to run a couple of minutes.
