Actually no, I've heard the opposite. You'll get more benefit from swapping the older 07/08 M3s than post MY09. There was apparently a small tweak & the switch to paper @ that point.
The MS Stage 2 intake pipe didn't fit properly in my car. The airbox could not stay down and the screws would not tighten because the intake elbow was too large. The duct to the front intake scoops would not go on either, because the airbox again was unable to close fully.

I changed it back to stock and kept the filter and front scoops.

Would not buy again.

Also, I suspect that the OEM plastic has better heat insulation properties.
