Also, I heard the software update, updates the software of the whole car and my car does have the Dinan software upgrade so don't know if that's separate or it would interfere with that.

Ooh yeah if you have the dinan software I believe it will overwrite that. Find a dealer that is also a Dinan shop and you might be able to get them to reload it for free after a software update.
