The entire process takes about 45 minutes from start to finish, depending on the number of options you want coded.
Before I perform any coding, I do the following:
1) Make a backup of the vehicle order
2) Make a backup complete of the CAS and FRM/NFRM modules (which contains the coding for all of the sub modules)
3) Make a backup of each specific module that is changed
4) Note the hardware and software versions of those modules
After those steps, I perform the coding, document what was changed, and finally test the new functionality.
The majority of the time is spent on #1-#4 above.
I could code an entire car in less than ten minutes, but I go through those steps to make sure that everything is done right and double checked, and to make sure that all of the factory files are completely backed up so they can always be restored for whatever reason at hand. Better safe than sorry.
