That is true for the 4 piston caliper. The ST40 uses a porsche pad shape but the general shape is common among MANY different applications. I ran out of pad this weekend. The shop did not have the Porsche pad but found a pad that had the same shape. Just had to cut off two ears and sand them down 1mm and (2 sanding belts later) I was good to go!
I'm not sure that this is as true for the ST60 but I haven't researched it as much as the ST40.
