You know, the more I use Mini 0806, the more I think it's good enough and meets all basic requirements for most situations. If you new to dashcams, it may be the best starter option. You can get it for ~$85

these (both are shipped from China, so budget 1-3 weeks).
Re GoPro option, you can also use your smartphone with an app. But personally I'd have smthg permanently mounted... and not being a huge loss if stolen.
