OK. The dealer has since reviewed the issue and isolated the matter to the IBS cable (negative cable faulty) which I believe has been brought up before by another user. Apparently, it has corroded near the battery terminal and needs replacing. Fortunately, it is not the whole run length of the car!!!
Fingers crossed nothing else as I have checked everything else I know of!
