the juddering your feeling is the belt slipping on the pump and your losing the power assist slightly, hence the jerky feeling (weighted versus non-weighted if that makes sense). The belt can be measure w/ string also and bought at any auto parts store as it is not "unique" to the M3.
Also no PS fluid "smells" "right"; it all smells like shit lol!
