Yeah if its really going through a quart every 600 miles that's not right. I've got 30k miles on my car and I've probably put a quart in every 6000 miles or so.

But reading your post again, I guess you've only put one quart in, right? Do you know when the last owner had last put in a quart? Maybe it was many miles before he sold it? Edit: Ok so you had to put in a quart sometime in the 3000 miles you've had it, and now it needs another. Got it. Yeah, although you don't say exactly how many miles since the last quart, I'll assume around 1500, and that's too soon to be normal IMHO. Though as long as the car runs fine otherwise, I guess its ok. How many miles on the car?

Oh, and in case someone tries to correct the OP about his "2007 M3", remember, in Europe (which I assume Warrington is - sound like UK) these cars were on sale in 2007. Although in the US we'd still have technically called them MY2008 since they were September 2007 production as I recall it.
