Meaning that the Porsche is more prestigous. Not that BMW isn't, but it's not in the same league as the Porsche. Just like most people here won't compare the M3 to a Nissan, because it's a Nissan. And to be fair, i would'nt compare the GTR with the 997tt either. If it's just purely performance base comparison only, then it's fine, once you put in the price factor and the "gotta have it" factor, then the comparison is over, JMHO.
Again, because of the huge price difference, i'd rather have the M3.
