It's more of a mindset with an M3. You have to drive it differently than other cars. Before the M3, I had an LS1 SS Camaro. This was more of a torque machine, so I could drive around at lower rpms and get my power there. In the M3, you must shift down to the lowest possible gear, and the thing will launch like a rocket. Cruising around at 3krpm is normal in this car, because it redlines at 8400rpm, where cruising around in the SS at 3k rpm would have been nuts. Drive the car to the motors strengths, that means high rpms and lower gears. Just don't do that until you break it in.
