I adjusted the driver's side rubber bump stop (by screwing it down) and the hood now latches fine. Thank you.

FWIW, the owner's manual states the following instructions regarding closing the hood:

"Close the hood from a height of approx. 20in/50cm with momentum..."

This is the method the salesman demonstrated when I bought the car.

The bump stop was preventing complete engagement of the latch despite more than adequate momentum.
