First one I touched (and programmed) was an NCR50. It had two 18" disk packs and was programmed using punchcards with the Hollerith code. Now THAT's being ancient.
My first personal computer was an Olivetti PC-clone with an Intell 8086 processor at 4.77 MHZ (yes, MEGA), 256KB of RAM, two 5¼" floppy drives (no hard drive). I paid extra for the color monitor and for extra RAM to 640KB. For $600 I later upgraded to a Seagate 238 harddrive with 20MB of storage but using a RLL controller got over 30MB.
