It doesn't hurt. My buddy's E93 idles what I would consider normal:
On a warm or cold start, the idle goes up to 1500 and slowly settles down. There is no needle bob, rev hunting, or engine surging. I feel like that's the way the car was designed and whatever issue, despite it's significance, is still abnormal. If the car is under warranty, why not get it fixed before potentially turns into something more worrisome that equals big bucks later down the line.
