I want to say it's unlikely given the length of hose I'm using but either way I don't think it's necessary to poke a hole in the cap. I blew through the hose to check venting and there is (with cap tight and seal removed).
In any case I will be testing this setup on Friday and will report back!

The little tank should also have venting, at least mine does. There should be a hole in the screw thread when you remove the cap.
