Most people, and certainly most shops do it that way, because it literally takes 5 minutes to remove the axle back with the hangers in place. Then you can remove the hangers on the floor much easier, by rotating them back and forth with WD40. Snapping the rubber hangers off the shafts (without removing them with their brackets) is a real b*tch
. And yes, that's exactly what I did the first time. If there's a next time, will definitely take the brackets off. Hope this helps.
